Halle (Saale) has various public tent and mobile home sites near the city as well as in the surrounding area. These include, for example, the camping site at Nordbad, which is located directly on the river Saale, or the mobile home site on Fährstraße near the Giebichenstein Bridge.

In order to expand the outdoor accommodation options for visitors to Halle, Stadtmarketing Halle (Saale) GmbH initiated the "Camping in Halle" project in May 2022, which will be funded by the state of Saxony-Anhalt until the end of 2023.

The aim is to acquire residents and businesses in the city on the Saale who will make their plots of land, open spaces, meadows or gardens available to campers and motorhome owners free of charge. The website publishes all the available sites in a database.

In this way, visitors to Halle have the opportunity to get to know the city in a personal and authentic way through direct contact with the locals. The project is intended to create a networking portal between locals of the city of Halle (Saale) and tourists. Participating parking space providers will also benefit: meeting new people, making travel friends and showing Halle's most beautiful spots to visitors are just some of the advantages. In addition, all supporters of the project will receive a thank-you voucher for their participation.
