Collegiate Church, Castle and Old Town of Quedlinburg
UNESCO World Heritage City with medieval flair
After the German King Henry I. was buried in a small church in 936, a collegiate foundation was established to grant his descendants a memorial. The church was therefore extended and has since borne the name Collegiate Church of St. Servatii. The famous cathedral treasure, which had previously been lost, can also be admired here. Not only the church, but also the castle and the old town of Quedlinburg have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites since 1994. If you would like to learn more about the history, it is recommended to visit the castle museum next to the church on the castle-hill. The old town also enchants with its unique half-timbered buildings and adorable alleyways.
