Wolfgang Dreysse "Zither Reinhold"
A Halle original
The sculptor Wolfgang Dreysse created a Halle original, the zither-playing Reinhold Lohse (1878–1964), who was affectionately called Zither-Reinhold by the people of Halle. In Dreysse's depiction, however, two figures sit opposite each other as if in dialogue. From the artist's point of view, the scene depicts Zither-Reinhold reminiscing about his days on earth – a togetherness of personified fantasy and past reality. Wolfgang Dreysse studied sculpture from 1966 to 1972 under Gerhard Lichtenfeld, among others. From 1994 to 2012, he was Professor of Basic Sculpture at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.
