Hans-Joachim Triebsch "City"
Mural in Große Klausstraße
On a gable wall in Große Klausstraße is a monumental mural entitled Stadt (City). It was created by the artist Hans-Joachim Triebsch, who moved to Halle from Brandenburg an der Havel to study at the Hochschule für Form und Gestaltung (now Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle). The mural was created in 1987/88, shortly before the political upheaval in the GDR. The fictitious Halle street scene shows numerous details that refer to the social and political mood of those years. In 2002, Triebsch reworked the picture and added several new elements. If you look closely, you will discover exciting personalities from Halle's city history and world fame.
