Harzer Wandernadel: Special stamp in the Botanical Garden
A garden dream for all hiking fans
The Harz hiking pin offers a pure experience of nature. With the help of a hiking pass, those interested can collect stamps at 222 places of interest on the approximately 8,000 kilometres of signposted hiking trails in the beautiful Harz Mountains. In addition, there are special stamps located at unusual places associated with the Harz National Park and its beauty. The Botanical Garden Halle (Saale) is part of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and has been looking after the "Brocken Garden" on the summit of the highest mountain in the Harz Mountains for many years. A stamp site can now also be found in the botanical garden.

More information
The Botanical Garden at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg was established in 1698 and was the first of its kind in what was then Prussia. As a medicinal plant garden, it was once intended for the education of medical students. Today, the almost five-hectare site is home to around 12,000 plant species, of which around 6,000 grow in the greenhouses. The thematically organised open-air plant collection, the garden with the alpine plants and the forest and steppe areas represent a cross-section of plant geography worldwide. The Botanical Garden is open from the beginning of May to the end of October. The garden is not open to the public in winter, as many plants are stored in the greenhouses for protection.
