Hermann Grüneberg "Reitersturzbild"
The "Reitersturzbild" is a steel sculpture in a coloured version. The image and title recognise the reference to a so-called equestrian statue or equestrian monument. By deconstructing this motif and using the parts like a collage, something new was created. "Falling horsemen, falling monuments - the subject is a sensitive one and has very topical references these days. [...] I use attributes from past times as a filter in order to be able to depict them in an unbiased way. However, this is not intended to suppress the urgent desire that this figure carries within it - namely to react to grievances not with destruction, but with a creative will. [...]" is how the artist describes it.
Hermann Grüneberg was born in Weimar in 1983. He studied sculpture at Burg Giebichenstein until 2015. His works can also be found in public spaces in the cities of Jena and Celle. Hermann Grüneberg has already been honoured with prizes and scholarships.
