Horst Brühmann "The Contemplative" 1975
The works of art in the Galerie im Grünen include the nude sculpture "Die Sinnende" (1975) by Horst Brühmann, which came to Halle-Neustadt on permanent loan from the Moritzburg Art Museum in Halle (Saale) for the artistic design of the open spaces.
After an apprenticeship as a cabinetmaker, the artist Host Brühmann (1942-2014) studied design and architecture at the Hochschule für industrielle Formgestaltung Halle - Burg Giebichenstein from 1965 to 1969. He then studied sculpture under Gerhard Lichtenfeld at Burg Giebichenstein until 1972. There are other sculptures by Brühmann in the cityscape. "Mother and Child" and "Metamorphosis" are located in the Südpromenade. The winner of the Gustav Weidanz Prize (1977) also created the Circle of Life fountain on Cathedral Square, which was inaugurated in 2012.
