The sculptor Günter Kaden, who graduated in Halle, designed six manhole covers with city coats of arms from various eras of Halle's history directly on the Leipziger Turm - the last remaining tower of the former city wall. These include the city's current coat of arms. Günter Kaden studied under Gerhard Lichtenfeld and Willi Sitte at the Burg Giebichenstein Art Academy in Halle from 1967 to 1972.
