Nebra Sky Disc
The magic of a bronze disc
The State Museum of Prehistory in Halle (Saale), one of the most important archaeological museums in Europe, presents a real find of the century: the Nebra Sky Disk. Forged around 3,600 years ago, it transmits the knowledge and astronomical ideas of the time. It combines an image of the day and night sky and thus explains the course of the sun, moon and stars. The story of its discovery is like a thriller, its attraction is almost magical. The sky disc is considered to be the oldest concrete representation of the sky in the world and has held the title of UNESCO "Memory of the World" since 2013.
