Zoo of Halle
The only Mountain Zoo in Germany
The observation tower and the free-flight aviary form the top of the Mountain Zoo and are an integral part of the city's skyline. Since 1901, visitors have been exploring the Reilsberg and marvelling at mountain animals in natural rock formations along the way. For the youngest explorers, parents can hire handcarts to make the walk easier. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy a fantastic view over Halle from the mountain terrace. Back at the foot of the mountain, many more species await discovery in animal houses: even on cold days, you can watch penguins frolicking and marvel at majestic big cats.
