Halle-Neustadt is memory, home - and constant change. To mark the 60th anniversary of Halle-Neustadt, the City Museum of Halle is showing a special exhibition entitled "And afterwards into the Prisma! Photos and things from Halle-Neustadt." Photographs and objects from Halle-Neustadt that have entered the collection of the City Museum of Halle over the last 10 years will be shown to the public for the first time.
The exhibition is divided into two parts. The first part shows photographs and documents from the Halle-Neustadt photo circle, which worked under the direction of Gerald Große from 1971. The images provide an insight into everyday life in the 'socialist showcase city' of the time and convey an idea of the changes that Halle-Neustadt underwent.
The second part shows objects from Halle-Neustadt that are highly recognisable and shaped everyday life: the original "G" of the Gastronom lettering, a model of the "Fruits of the Sea" fountain by Hans Rothe or an original document with "Explanations, advice and tips" for the first occupancy of a flat in Neustadt.
The exhibition will open on Thursday, 5 September 2024 from 6 pm in the gallery of the City Museum of Halle. All interested parties are cordially invited. The director will open the evening with a welcoming speech, after which curator Ms Bielig will provide insights into the exhibition concept and lead a discussion with contemporary witnesses. There will also be snacks, drinks and music. Admission is free.
The exhibition will be on display at the City Museum of Halle until 29 June 2025.
