In the middle of the Ziegelwiese - the green heart of Halle - there are extensive lawns with scattered works of art and the ornamental pond covered in water lilies with its 80-metre-high water fountain. This is one of the highest fountains in Europe. Once a year, and very popular with visitors, a festival is held during which the fountain is extraordinarily staged and colorfully illuminated. There is also a colorful program dedicated to art, culture and literature, as well as numerous stalls and lots of hands-on activities for children.
