Sand sculpture "Halle am Meer" on the market square

"Halle am Meer" with many open-air events

Sand sculpture "Halle am Meer" radiates a little holiday feeling in the city centre

Over the course of a week, sand carvers from Sandcity will create a temporary Baltic Sea landscape out of sand. In addition, three sand play boxes with sun sails, deckchairs and a beach chair offer a little holiday feeling on Halle's market square in summer 2023. To mark the opening of the sand landscape, two groups of nursery school children from Halle built their own sandcastles under the guidance of the sand carvers from Sandcity.

"As in previous years, we want to create a holiday feeling in the middle of Halle's old town with this summer format and this time we're not just inviting you to the Saale with our sailing dinghies, but directly to the sea," says Mark Lange, Managing Director of Stadtmarketing Halle (Saale) GmbH, on behalf of everyone involved in the planned event.

The Baltic Sea flair from Ahrenshoop is currently also on show in the summer exhibitions of the same name "Halle by the sea: beach zone and natural idyll.Ahrenshoop 1945-2023" at the Moritzburg Art Museum and "Halle am Meer: Künstlerkolonie und Sommergäste. Ahrenshoop 1892-1945" at the "Talstrasse" art gallery.

The summer installation "Halle by the Sea" on the market square is a format organised by Stadtmarketing Halle (Saale) GmbH with the City of Halle (Saale), the Moritzburg Art Museum Halle (Saale), the "Talstrasse" art gallery, Stadtwerke Halle GmbH, GP Günter Papenburg AG and the following Halle-based companies: Autohaus Huttenstrasse GmbH, Haustechnikhandel Halle-Dessau, SaltLabs Workplace + Coffee GmbH and the specialist toy shop TOBS.

Depending on the current conditions, the temporary Baltic Sea landscape made of sand can be experienced until mid-August.

The city of Halle (Saale) offers a well-filled summer events calendar with many open-air events: Concerts on the Peißnitzbühne and racecourse, summer theatre, summer cinema and summer picnics in the Moritzburggraben, at the Oberburg Giebichenstein, on the WUK theatre ship, in the courtyard of the WUK and other venues in Halle. Halle's cultural and leisure facilities offer many holiday activities and a summer funfair at the Hallmarkt.
