Stadtmarketing Halle (Saale) GmbH markets the Handel city of Halle (Saale) as a tourist city destination at the International Tourism Exchange ITB, the world's leading travel trade fair. Over 5,500 exhibitors from 170 countries will be meeting travel buyers and tourism experts in Berlin. Together with the five tourism regions of Saxony-Anhalt, the cities of Magdeburg and Dessau-Roßlau, Halle (Saale) is promoting Saxony-Anhalt as a tourist destination under the tourism claim "Echt schön" (Really beautiful).
The number of overnight stays for the state of Saxony-Anhalt in 2023 will be published at the ITB. For the city of Halle (Saale), the tourism trend continues to be very positive with +5.7 per cent increase to 424,529 overnight stays for 2023 compared to 401,623 overnight stays in 2022.
Foreign guests are even increasing at double-digit rates with +10.6 per cent and 46,513 overnight stays in 2023 compared to the previous year, even surpassing the record and pre-corona year of 2019 (42,071: 2022 and 46,474: 2019). Overall, growth is continuing to catch up with the record year of 2019. Halle's overnight stays are only just under 7 per cent behind the previous result of 456,739 overnight stays*.
Halle offers a great start to the travel season in thecoming months with special festivals such as the jazz festival "Women in Jazz" (4-11.05.24), the Handel Festival (24.05.-9.06.24) and the major street theatre festival "Gulliver" to celebrate 70 years of the Halle Puppet Theatre (15-22.06.24).
