From Saturday, 24 to Sunday, 25 February 2024, the Halle Tour Guide Association is inviting visitors to twelve free taster city tours on the occasion of World Tour Guide Day on this year's theme of "Streets, alleys, bridges, squares". The event kicks off on Saturday, 24 February, from 11:00 a.m. on the Marketplace in front of the Ratshof.
After the opening with the traditional souvenir photo, eight guided tours will start in parallel from the Marketplace. Halle's team of tour guides will introduce the following places: University Square, the 14 small and large streets leading to Marketplace, Friedemann-Bach-Platz, Cathedral Square, Old Market, Trödel, Hallmarkt and stories about the "new theatre". At 2.00 p.m., there is a tour of the Saline Island with its bridges to choose from (meeting point: crystal columns at the Saline Museum) and at 3.00 p.m., the first day concludes with a Kröllwitz tour on the Giebichenstein Bridge.
On Sunday, 25 February, there will be two taster tours to choose from in the east and north of Halle at 11:00 a.m.: a walk through the "Freiraum-Galerie" (meeting point: Freiimfelder Str. / corner of Delitzscher Str.) and a guided tour through Trotha (meeting point: Trotha tram terminus). Participation in all guided tours is free of charge. Donations are welcome: This year, the dedicated guides are collecting for new trees in Halle (Saale).

Why World Guides Day? The background:
International Tourist Guide Day or World Tourist Guide Day has been organised by numerous tourist guide organisations around the world since 1990 on 21 February, the founding day of the World Federation of Tourist Guides (WFTGA). The aim is to give interested citizens, tourism managers and politicians an insight into the work of certified tour guides. A total of 80 tour guide organisations are taking part in the World Tour Guide Day organised by the Federal Association of Tour Guides in Germany.
Qualified tour guides are representatives of their cities and regions and make a significant contribution to promoting Germany as a tourist destination or for travelling within Germany
