Blackbird ground
Natural monument with an iconic view
At the gateway to Kröllwitz, Amselgrund offers a special welcome to those seeking relaxation. Directly on the banks of the Saale, a promenade invites you to follow the river on the opposite bank. Behind it rises a broad rock formation with porphyry slopes and ravine forests, the legendary "Brüderhöhle" cave and the three Kreuzer ponds. Once you have hiked to the top, you can reach the most beautiful viewpoints all around and the terraces of the mountain inn from the biotope via the Hoher Weg. You will be rewarded for the climb with an iconic view of the city: a cow and horse guard the Kröllwitz Bridge, Giebichenstein Castle towers majestically above and the Klausberge mountains in the distance offer a view of the Bergzoos aviary.
