Hidden hideaway in the centre of the city
In the direct neighbourhood of Giebichenstein Castle, a small wonder rises up on the rock above the Saale promenade. The Amtsgarten offers a hidden refuge for anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a few moments. Its centrepiece is the terraced south-facing slope with rose garden and seasonally planted parterres. Accompanied by the scent of blossoms and the busy humming of flowers, numerous paths and steps lead to charming vantage points, another ornamental bed with a pergola and the surrounding meadows. The cooling shade of old solitary trees such as the gingko, leather tree and string tree still bear witness to its eventful history as a former baroque garden and later landscape park modelled on the Wörlitz park.
