Giebichenstein Castle
A horse, a cow and a castle
Enchanted paths through the official garden lead to the entrance. An almost hidden archway leads in, then up the steps, over rocks, lined with stories and secrets. The upper castle is home to the town museum and during the summer months, guided tours, festivals, theatre plays and family afternoons take place here. Climbing up the tower and looking through the small window openings reveals an impressive view over the Saale and the stone arches of the Giebichenstein Bridge. At its ends, a horse and cow stoically point the way to the city or the former fishing village of Kröllwitz.
