Large Lake Goitzsche
Holiday feeling guaranteed
The Great Goitzsche Lake, a former open-cast mine, attracts many visitors today. Whether swimming, cycling around the lake on the 25-kilometre route, fishing, water sports or simply taking a leisurely stroll along the promenade - the possibilities are endless. The centrepiece of Lake Goitzsche is the 26-metre-high water level tower. The tower floats on the surface of the water and can only be reached via a 190 metre long pontoon bridge. From Lake Goitzsche, it is also worth making a detour to the Bitterfeld Arch, the landmark of the town of Bitterfeld-Wolfen. Just a few minutes' walk from the town harbour, visitors can discover Bitterfeld town centre with the historic town hall and the Protestant town church.
