Winter sports and hiking destination: The Harz low mountain range is located in the triangle between Saxony-Anhalt, Lower Saxony and Thuringia. It has plenty of attractions for young and old and is a popular excursion destination in the region. Starting with the Brocken, which at 1,141 metres is the highest mountain in the Harz. It can be climbed on foot during a hiking tour or easily reached with the traditional Brocken railway. Whether skiing, snowboarding or tobogganing: The region is known for its numerous winter sports activities. Highlights also include a treetop walk in Bad Harzburg, Falkenstein Castle in Pansfelde, the sandstone caves in Blankenburg and the pedestrian suspension rope bridge in Elbingerode, to name but a few.
