Dieskau Castle Park
Enchanted idyll modelled on Wörlitz
Hidden in the middle of the Reide floodplain in Kabelsketal is the Dieskau Castle Park, a jewel of horticultural art. Extensive woodland and meadow areas, ponds and picturesque bridges over streams invite you to take a sensual stroll and linger. Cleverly arranged, paths and seating direct the onlooker's gaze through avenues of trees and lines of sight to a Chinese teahouse, decorative urns, obelisks and statues of ancient deities. The Dieskau idyll owes its similarity to Wörlitz Park to the garden architect Johann George Gottlieb Schoch, who lent his signature style to both parks at the end of the 18th century. Today, work is gradually underway to restore the park to its former splendour. It is definitely worth a visit!
