Central repository of natural science collections
Unique archive of biodiversity and geology
The University of Halle is home to an exciting natural history treasure trove at Domplatz: fossils, skeletons and historical teaching models are waiting to be explored. Millions of exhibits documenting the diversity of species and the progress of science are housed in a unique archive dating back over 250 years. The areas of domestic animal science and zoology can be explored here: From the famous skeleton of a racehorse to globally significant zoological show specimens, national cultural assets are on display, including a valuable insect collection with a variety of butterflies, beetles and dipterans, whose inventory is regularly expanded through expeditions.
The fascinating world of the natural science collections invites visitors to experience the beauty and diversity of life.
