University Museum
The treasury of the university
The Central Custodian's Office houses the art objects of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and is responsible for their preservation, scientific cataloguing and mediation. As the university's central institution, the Custody is the point of contact and advisor for the scientific collections. At the same time, it is also a showcase for the university's rich tradition and a meeting place for urban society. Our University Museum is located in the main building of the university (Löwengebäude), where over 500 years of university history are presented. Changing special exhibitions deal with cultural-historical topics, present important personalities and their research work or address current social issues. With its exhibitions and events, the Central Custody is an integral part of the cultural and museum landscape in Halle and the region.
